Player Participation is coach selected based on a pre-season skills tryout. Players will be evaluated at an open tryout, scheduled for Saturday 2/1/2020. Based on cumulative score, players will be selected and placed on either the Section 1, Section 2, or Section 3 team(s). The Section 1 team is made up of the most experienced, qualified 10**, 11 and 12 year olds and is considered to be township’s most competitive team at the 12U level. Total number of travel teams is determined by the number of registrations and skill level of players.
All players that tryout will be placed on a travel team roster either section 1, 2, or 3. Details of play are below:
Travel baseball competitors will come from neighboring school districts in Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks, and Chester Counties.
Section 1 players are expected to make this team their #1 baseball and spring sport commitment and priority.
Travel team rosters will have 10-13 players (final roster count determined by coach and selection committee).
Practice/Game weekly commitment averages 3 nights per week – coach to communicate days of the week
Game are played during the week and will require some travel for away games
12U field dimensions = 50’ mound to home plate and 70’ base pads
Offensive base “leads” and Defensive Pitcher “pick-offs” are introduced at the 12U level
Games are officiated by paid umpires
End of year playoffs are scheduled based on team win-loss record
**5th Graders who are league age 10 will be permitted to play with their classmates on a 12U travel team
