Player Participation in 8U softball is suitable for girls ages 8 or younger (as of January 1, 2017) who are in Kindergarten, 1^st or 2^nd grade.   8U softball is intended to be an introductory in nature.   Emphasis is on fun and learning the basics of the game.  Details of play are below:

• The season will start in (Feb-March), with multiple weeks of practices in the high school gym

• Early season practices will consist of 1.5 hour sessions 1 time per week

• Practices will be a combination of drills/fundamentals and short scrimmage

• In-house coaching staff will oversee practices maintaining a positive and fun environment

• Beginning the 2^nd week of April, teams will meet twice per week (6-8 additional practices and 8-10 games). 

• Based upon the ages and skill levels of the registrants, coaches will try to separate the girls into 8U and 6U teams.

Player Participation in 8U softball is suitable for:
•   girls ages 7 or 8 (as of January 1, 2020)
•   girls who will turn 9 between January and June 2020 and do not have prior softball experience  

8U softball is intended to introduce softball to first-third graders with limited or no softball experience. Emphasis is placed on learning fundamentals in a positive and fun learning environment. 

A few practice/game schedule details:
•  The season will start mid-March 2020, with multiple weeks of practices at a local athletic facility (TBD).
•  A pre-season practice/player evaluation will be held to assist coaches in forming teams.
•  Early season practices consist of 1-hour sessions 1-3 times per week
•  Once games begin, schedule commonly shifts to 2 games per week and 1 practice per week
•  Practices will be a combination of drills/fundamentals and short scrimmages
•  Practice sessions will be led by MTBSA coaches who will make every effort to ensure equal game playing time for each player
•  Game schedule will be released by the league mid-March 2020

Player Participation in 10U softball is suitable for:
•   girls ages 9 or 10 (as of January 1, 2020)
•   girls who will turn 9 between January and June 2020 and have 8U playing experience   
10U softball is intended to solidify softball fundamentals and further develop individual skills in a positive and fun learning environment.

A few practice/game schedule details:
•  The season will start mid-March 2020, with multiple weeks of practices at a local athletic facility (TBD).
•  A pre-season practice/player evaluation will be held to assist coaches in forming teams. •  Early season practices consist of 1-hour sessions 1-3 times per week

• A Team Players are not guaranteed equal playing time, but all players will have sufficient playing time during games.  

• B Team Players are not guaranteed equal playing time.  However, coaches will make every effort to provide equal playing time during the games.

• The number of A and B teams will be determine by the total number of registrants

14U Travel

Player Participation in 14U travel softball is coach selected based on a pre-season skills evaluation.  Players will be evaluated at an open tryout (TBD) and based on those results will be placed on either an A or B team.    The A team is made up of the more experienced and qualified girls ages 13 or 14 (as of January 1, 2020).  Coaches will continue to focus on skills and game fundamentals, while deploying strategies centered on winning games.   The B team will focus less on winning and more on skills development and game fundamentals.   Details of play are below:
